“If people let government decide what foods they eat and what medicines they take, their bodies will soon be in as sorry a state as are the souls of those who live under tyranny.” -Thomas Jefferson Hancock Superior Court Justice Ann Murray and the Maine Department of Agriculture executed a serious blow to a Maine raw milk farmer, Dan Brown, and the Blue Hill Local Community and Self-governance Ordinance. The superior court ruling convicted Maine farmer Dan Brown of: Selling food without a license Selling food without a distributors licence Selling unpasteurized milk without proper labeling This ruling effectively vetoed the Blue Hill Town Ordinance, a declaration of food sovereignty which has also been passed by 7 other local Maine towns. The self-governance ordinance begins: “We the People of the Town of Blue Hill, Hancock County, Maine have the right to produce, process, sell, purchase and consume local foods thus promoting self-reliance, the preservation of family farms, and local food traditions” This food freedom ordinance is one that issues that respective towns in Maine and their farmers have the Right to be exempt from licensing and inspections as long as they are selling directly to consumers for home consumption. The impression I get is that these towns [...]

Rand Paul Calls on Senate to End the FDA Police State
When it comes to the quest to End the FDA Police State, Senator Rand Paul is working to finish what his father, Presidential Candidate Ron Paul , and Patriots around the country started. Senator Rand Paul introduced Amendment 2143 to S.3187, the FDA Re-authorization bill, which has three Constitution-restoring sections (Amend. 2143) which rein in the power of the tyrannical FDA, and attempt to restore some justice to the justice system. The vote is Thursday, May 24th, 2012, so I recommend everyone call their Senators and tell them you want a YES vote on Rand Paul’s amendment. You can find & contact your Senator HERE You can contact and thank Senator Rand Paul HERE [Rand Paul introduces Amendment 2143 to S. 3187 on Senate Floor] First Section, reins in FDA’s over-regulation of alternative supplements and industry: In this first section, Rand Paul highlights the hypocrisy of the FDA, granting pharmaceutical companies unlimited ability to claim benefits as they please with their pills, but when it comes to alternative supplements, especially the ones that many people actually use, the FDA censors the products of small businesses and takes away their first amendment rights to market their products as they please. The FDA consistently makes small [...]
Utah, Food Freedom, and the Nullification Doctrine
Senator Casey Anderson sponsored Utah Legislature Bill SB 0034, which restores the Constitution in relation to regulation of food in Utah and is a great example of the Nullification Doctrine. This bill can also be seen as a potential victory for the food freedom movement. Quoted directly from the Bill general description, “This bill prohibits federal regulation of an agricultural product that remains in Utah after it is made, grown, or produced in Utah, and addresses the designation of a Utah agricultural product.” This bill has reached a critical stage in the process to becoming law, soon to be voted on, and that is greatly in thanks to Senator Casey Anderson and the Utah Tenth Amendment Center. I’d advocate visiting the Tenth Amendment Center website for great Constitution info and Tenth amendment related current events. Senator Casey Anderson and the Utah Tenth Amendment Center argued that the supreme law of the land is the Constitution, which Federal Law should be based around, and that because of this, Federal regulation in State Agriculture is unconstitutional because the Federal Government only has the authority to regulate interstate commerce, not intrastate commerce. Intrastate Commerce refers to commerce within the state, while interstate commerce refers to commerce between [...]
