American Censorship of The Internet and the Digital Bill of Rights

Representative Darrell Issa of California and Senator Ron Wyden of Oregon proposed a bi-partisan effort to create a form of Bill of Rights for the internet, presumably,  as a way to fight back against American Censorship of the Internet through CISPA, FISA, or similar legislation. Representative Darrell Issa, on his website, Keep The Web Open, declares, “I believe that individuals possess certain fundamental rights. Government should exist to protect those rights against those who would violate them. That is the revolutionary principle at the heart of the American Declaration of Independence and U.S.Constitution” The drafted digital Bill of Rights created by Issa includes: the right to an uncensored internet all citizens are created equal on the internet citizens are free to associate and collaborate citizens have a right to privacy and to property While the content of the bill does sound good, I am a little suspicious of the creator, Rep. Issa, who did  vote YES on NDAA, and voted YES on CISPA. I wonder if such a bill were created, would it be limited to the language within Issa’s document, or would it be subject to politics, and thus, require someone like Issa to sponsor it? And if Rep. Issa [...]

Paleo Blogger, Where Free Speech Ends and Licensed Speech Begins

A Paleo Blogger who suffered from Diabetes and created a blog to discuss the issue and his success with the Paleo Diet received an order from the North Carolina Board of Dietitians and Nutrition to cease and desist from exercising his Natural and Constitutional right to Free Speech.  Steve Cooksey, who is now being defended by the Institute for Justice, started DiabetesWarrior Dot Net as a method of communicating about himself and nutritional information and opinions with others. His blog experienced success in attracting a sizable amount of readers, and he was recently invited to speak at a Conference on January 12, 2012, where he voiced his opinions, which do not agree with mainstream notions and opinion. [Short video on Paleo Blogger Steve Cooksey's Case for Free Speech] Shortly after the Conference, possibly after someone at the Conference “took offense” to his statements and reported him to the Government North Carolina board of dietitians and nutrition, Mr. Cooksey received a call from the Director of the Board dictating the following [Source]: “She stated that I, as a non-licensed person could provide NO dietary or nutritional advice… period.   It makes no difference if I am giving the advice away or if it’s for a fee” “She [...]

Cybersecurity Act 2012, CISPA goes Undercover in the Senate

UPDATE May 31st, 2012: I have been receiving emails from various Liberty organizations that the word in the Senate is that there is massive opposition to the Cybersecurity Act 2012 and constituents know that CISPA is inside. KEEP THE CALLS/EMAILS/DISCUSSION UP! Internet Censorship advocates in Congress continue their fight against the Constitution by creating a disguise for the recent House of Representatives-passed CISPA, under the name of Cybersecurity Act 2012, or S. 2105  in the Senate.  The vote on the Cybersecurity Act is rumored to be occurring between May 28th, 2012, and June 1st, 2012, so action needs to be taken as soon as possible, as next week is a recess week for Congress. Any updates on this information will be posted here.  The Censors within Congress obviously sense that American patriots are about to wield telephones, computers, and signs, and attempt to stop CISPA in the Senate, otherwise they likely wouldn’t have hidden it under the title “Cybersecurity” and within another bill. This is an attempt to convince you to sacrifice your individual right to Free Speech, highlighted within the First Amendment of the Constitution, and your individual right to Privacy & against search & seizure, highlighted within the Fourth Amendment of the [...]

Don’t Tread on the Internet & Don’t Tread on Me

CISPA, the new internet Censorship bill, is already being met with massive protest. Mashable, Digital Trends, and many others have began the spread of information across the very internet Congress is attempting to censor, ironically highlighting the reasoning behind the bill, and the need for the FREE INTERNET.  This internet censorship bill is different than SOPA in that it attempts to deliver power over the internet and free speech to government under the guise of “protection” by forcing and allowing companies to give YOUR private information to government. I guess that’s why this bill is “coincidentally” coinciding with the NSA’s construction of a million square foot spying facility for Americans.  But I write about this today not to fear monger, or to scare you into blind submission and agreement, but as a call to action, similar to that of the force that STOPPED SOPA, the previous internet censorship bill. YES, HUMAN ACTION WORKS, especially with the politicians who believe we the people are asleep, and that is perfectly exemplified when a bill goes viral, and there is a massive and strong NO! in time.    Over the past few months, those who have paid attention to the “work” congress has been [...]

Freedom and the Great Firewall of America

The Great Firewall of China, always seen as something so wrong, something so against liberty and the rights of every human, and something so far away from American ideals set forth by the Founders, seems to have a new brother in the making, The Great Firewall of America. For those of you who did not know, the great firewall of China symbolizes the aggressive censorship of the internet displayed by the Chinese Government, and the aggression against human rights of speech and protest. It’s nasty and it has even gone as far as to limit or shut down websites, severely limit or shut down social media, and censor any information considered slanderous against the State and any other claimed interests. Of course, in America, this is coming to us all under the disguise of safety, and at the cost of our liberty. “Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety” -Benjamin Franklin Exaggeration? Not at all. The Protect IP bill, which goes by the name of the E-parasites Act and the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA, gives the power to the Government to censor and block any websites inducing piracy and any website “dedicated to infringing [...]
