It was the existence of the tyranny of the British government in the 18th & 19th centuries that spawned the resistance of the Individuals who eventually won their Liberty, and called themselves Americans.

Whether Beck is becoming a Libertarian out of natural recognition and development, or out of a desire to satisfy what he sees as an emerging market, or even both, embarking on a project of this magnitude certainly displays an aptitude and work ethic that will provide a benefit to Libertarians, distrustful of him or not.
Within Independence Park will exist the life-blood of any Libertarian community, the market, in which innovators & hard workers will congregate to operate & create productive business & technology.
Research and development centers, along with educational tools & archives will exist for individuals to further pursue ideals, dreams, & knowledge. Mr. Beck plans on providing tools for even those living outside the community to utilize to protect against & counteract what is seen as regressive.
Independence Park will hold dear to its foundation and continuation literature and knowledge, but in reference to Thomas Jefferson’s advice on the necessary storage and passing on of knowledge, will incorporate unique architecture as a reminder of history and its lessons.
Self-reliance and independence will be the initial goals of the community, with more food and energy being produced than being used. Technological research and advancement, through the market & tools around the community, will drive the ability to meet these goals, which, although somewhat far fetched at this point, takes the same leap that many of the greatest inventors & inventions in history did, providing their respective purposes & functionality at times of great need, & times of great doubt.

As explained by Gregory at CNS news, this Idaho Citadel community will be comprised of individuals and families who ”voluntarily choose to live together in accordance with Thomas Jefferson’s ideal of Rightful Liberty”, further explained,
“neighbors keep their noses out of other neighbors’ business, that neighbors live and let live.”
Similar to the Libertarian principle of non-aggression, Citadel’s residents will realize, respect, learn, and protect their own Rights, and necessarily by definition of their own Rights, the Rights of others.
Citadel’s community will be filled with families who are not only respectful of one another’s Rights & lives, but are able to protect each others Rights and lives through skill, preparation, & responsibility, and through what Citadel’s website expresses as the guardian of Liberty against tyranny, the rifle.
While within the State of Idaho, Citadel will boast the ability to display a fully and efficiently functioning community that lives without the tyrannical rules of government outside its boundaries, while allowing for interaction and participation within the market.
Additionally, due to an application process encouraging the skill or desire for the skill in operating rifles, I believe Citadel will be able to boast a near crime-free feature, in which the preparation by individuals within the community thwarts most crime before occuring, and answers quickly and efficiently to crime that is not prevented from beginning.
No doubt, the recent explosion of attention around Citadel is due to the remembrance of the principles which founded this country by its citizens, and the current attempt to disarm Americans, confiscate weapons, & prevent the sale of future firearms by the very congress and government who begin office by taking an Oath to the Constitution which guarantees & highlights the natural right to ownership of a weapon and self-defense.
Again, with expanding tyranny, comes a larger desire for Freedom.
In one of the most economically-destroyed cities within the United States, Detroit, developers & investors have proposed a plan for a billion-dollar plus renovation of Bell Isle Park into a Free Market utopia.
Over 982 acres, a city-state of 35,000 individuals, innovators, and investors would live and operate freely with their own currency, law, and culture in an effort to restore peace and prosperity to Detroit, which was near-destroyed by the excess spending, printing, bailing out, and tyranny carried out by congress and the federal reserve over the past decade and previous periods.
The innovation, knowledge, and jobs that come out of the proposed city-state would certainly put on display the failure of the collectivist, law-crazy, and tyrannical nature of the current market within the United States.
While the project is very young and will make its proposal on January 22, 2013, the very existence and consideration by individuals, developers, and investors displays how widespread the desire to free the market is.
In New Hampshire, the Free State Project thrives & drives Americans to move for more Freedom.
With near 13,500 participants, & millions more in support and providing the necessary attention and information, primarily through the internet and directly on the streets of New Hampshire, the Free State Project has already accomplished changing the ideology of a population through action, and thus, has elected governmental-representatives to create and change law according to a goal of creating more freedom within every aspect of New Hampshire Citizen’s lives.
While the Libertarian success of the Free State Project expands Rights and shrinks laws within current government, another marvelous accomplishment would have to be the creation of business, technology, trade, & knowledge by participating FSP individuals.
Along with their physical presence, participants brought their skills & knowledge, which many have used and are in the process of using to inspire the creation of jobs, agorism, & individual nullification of respective tyrannies, such as “regulation” and the federal reserve’s inflated & criminal fiat dollar.
One example of inspiring innovation out of the Free State Project in New Hampshire is the birth of what is becoming a Libertarian watchdog of tyrannical government, CopBlock, an organization that educates Free individuals on the benefits & duty of filming a cop, serving the purpose of securing Rights & exposing tyrannical procedure and operation through recording and the internet. I point this organization out specifically because of their wonderful work within New Hampshire, but also because their success has inspired similar movements around the Country and will undoubtedly, serve a greater purpose over time.
Around the country, these are only a few examples of the market bringing competition to tyrannical government’s taxpayer-funded doorsteps.
Just as competition within the marketplace forces bad products, bad manufacturing, and bad business practice to face better products, better manufacturing, and better business practice, these competitive communities will win residents and supporters through display of their better product, and the better results which participants receive and experience.
Despite the fact that your ability to move to one of these communities may not exist at the current time, your support of these communities will perpetuate their growth, and thus, shine a light on the wrongs and failures of a more local tyrannical government.
These communities are a beacon that ensures Free people that despite increasing tyrannical rule, there is a dawn that awaits all individuals in which we are free to grasp the opportunity to improve our own lives, the lives of others, and those we leave behind.
