Brandon Raub Marine Veteran And Freedom Through Technology

On August 20,2012, Brandon Raub, Marine Veteran, Citizen of Virginia, was illegally kidnapped by members of the FBI and other Federal “Law” enforcement agencies for Free Speech he made on his Facebook. Authorities, without warrant, detained Brandon, and stated they would hold him for 30 days, against his will. 

Whether this unlawful and Unconstitutional arrest is related to NDAA Indefinite detention or not is still to be figured out. The Obama administration is currently refusing to notify Judges if it is illegally enforcing the National Defense Authorization Act, despite being ruled Unconstitutional.

But even without taking into consideration the possible NDAA Indefinite detention link, members of Federal Agencies held Brandon Raub without warrant, and imprisoned him within a government psychiatrist ward with force and against his will, without releasing any information, until wind of the arrest went viral over the internet and throughout social media websites.

But, thanks to the hard work of Patriots around the Country, and organizations, like the Rutherford Institute-the Legal Civil Liberties Institution defending Brandon-on August 23, 2012, Brandon Raub was released from his federal imprisonment:

“VICTORY: Circuit Court Orders Brandon Raub released, dismisses case against Marine arrested, detained in Veterans Admin. psych ward over political views, song lyrics posted on Facebook” [Source]

As John Whitehead, President of the Rutherford Institute, pointed out, Brandon Raub’s release, especially considering it was before the 30 day detainment threat from federal agencies, is a VICTORY for Liberty:

“Brandon Raub was arrested with no warning, targeted for doing nothing more than speaking out against the government, detained against his will, and isolated from his family, friends and attorneys. These are the kinds of things that take place in totalitarian societies. Today, at least, Judge Allan Sharrett proved that justice can still prevail in America.”

Judge Allan Sharrett proclaimed that the federal arrest had NO FACTS TO BACK IT UP, and that it was a CLEAR VIOLATION OF HIS CIVIL LIBERTIES [Source].

There is no question that wrong was committed by federal agencies, the unconstitutional, illegal, and immoral type-of-wrong.

But, the question that continues to travel my mind is, was Brandon Raub released because of the vast spread of knowledge of him and his unlawful arrest over the internet, through technology? 

If federal agencies went to kidnap Brandon Raub without transparency, lawful procedure, warrant, or information, and if they intended to hold him for at-least 30 days, and information and transparency was created by private citizens and the market, and he was released prior to those 30 days, what happened? 

 Surely, the Rutherford Institute donating their energy, time, and money, and a Judge ruling in favor of Civil Liberties, contributed largely to his release, but would either of these fortunate situations have ocured if it were not for the quick, efficient, and viral spread of respective information by Patriots around the Country?

I think not. I believe that Brandon Raub, kidnapped Marine Veteran, was the first of many cases to come in which technology will assist in defeating tyranny, and government corruption. I believe Brandon Raub’s arrest is a clear example of how surveillance and internet technology, typically used to spy on American Citizens, can be turned around, and used by private citizens to protect their own liberty, and thus, the liberty of others.

Unfortunately, this lesson required that a Marine Veteran be kidnapped from his own property, in his own Country, secretly and illegally. Fortunately, this lesson is surely one that will not be forgotten by the Liberty movement, and will instead be utilized to protect the Liberties of the Individual Citizens of this Country in the present and in the future.
