Government Food Subsidies Undermine Your Health and Liberty

Government food subsidies, or government agricultural subsidies, are payments to farmers and agricultural businesses by the taxpayers in efforts to control food prices and food supply.  [Note: You can hear Representative Ron Paul on subsidies here: Ron Paul subsidies are just payments to big corporations] These subsidies allegedly protect from surpluses in food supply, which could be damaging to prices and those earning from those surpluses. They also used to allegedly protect the consumers against radical increases in crop and food prices. These policies remain in effect, despite claims that the US pays more for crops than others and has been for quite some time. What really happens is that a small percentage of large farms or businesses receive the majority of the percentage of subsidies, although they don’t need it, and act in disregard over the fact that subsidies have now reached about a quarter of a trillion dollars within the last 10 years. These farmers are promised minimum crop prices and annual payments, allowing them to collect money that is not needed, and artificially controlling the prices and availability of certain crops and foods. Of course, there is little mention of the damage this does to small farmers, or the [...]

Farm Raids vs Food Freedom

Farm raids are infiltration campaigns most commonly conducted on small farms by Federal officials who claim violations of health code or health safety law.  In the recent farm raids case of Quail Hollow Farm, the Nevada State Health department was notified or found out about a CSA picnic the farm was holding for its members and potential members. CSA stands for Community supported agriculture, in which a group of individuals get together to pledge their support for a farm, and receive a percentage of fresh food from the farm in return. For many, this ends up being beneficial economically in reducing costs, while also allowing people who otherwise wouldn’t have to receive portions of fresh food and vegetables. This would seem like a logical opportunity, especially in a recession and time when many Americans are becoming obese. Apparently, the Nevada State Health Department didn’t agree, and while this farm was planning its member and potential member picnic, they were contacted by the health department. The Health Department demanded the farm apply for the proper permits to carry out such a haneous activity, or face large fees. Quail Hollow Farm ended up going through the process of getting the permit. On the day of the Picnic, [...]

Constitution Free Zone Engulfs Two Hundred Million Americans

Did you know that over 200 million Americans live in a Constitution Free Zone? This is a zone that according to the ACLU, seems to be legally exempt from providing you with your Constitutional rights and specifically violates the 4th and 5th Amendments of the Constitution.  According to the Government and the Border Patrol, jurisdiction of the border patrol is within 100 miles of any border, effectively claiming 2 out of every 3 Americans as a resident within their jurisdiction. These boundaries or “jurisdiction” create what is defined by the ACLU, as the Constitutional Free Zone, where your fourth amendment right against unreasonable search and seizure, and your fifth amendment right to a fair trial and being innocent until proven guilty by a jury seem to just become void. [Vince Peppard of San Diego tells his story of his encounter with the Constitution Free Zone Gestapo] Of course, this rights-negated zone, by claiming a 100 mile jurisdiction, would include major cities and major population areas. Below is a graphic of all the areas that fall under this free zone, highlighted in orange. See if You’re Living in a “Constitutional Free Zone” HERE Some even go as far as to claim that this 100 [...]

Is It Illegal to be Fat in Japan? Is this the era of Fat Laws?

Is it illegal to be fat in Japan? Why does that matter to anyone not in Japan? Is this the Era of Fat Laws? What the heck are fat laws?  Those are the questions I’ll be tackling today. Back in 2008/2009, when everyone in America was focused on healthcare, and whether it was right or wrong, and whether it was good for the economy, Japan decided to take a step forward on the path to 1984 and pass “fat laws”. [CNN answers, Is it Illegal to be Fat in Japan?] The Government in Japan, bent on protecting its citizens from themselves, decided it was time to either fine companies tens of millions of dollars (converted from Yen), or have them comply with standards for their employees to not only not be overweight, but adhere to low waist sizes (something that isn’t entirely a bullet-proof health tester). As you can see in this link by the Global Post, some of the citizens are resorting to crash diets low in calories and nutrients while maintaining consistent workout schedules just to meet their “quota” (should be resorting to something like THIS). Global Post Article As I and many others have said before, you can’t legislate health. You [...]
