Disaster Storage and Hazard Preparedness

It doesn’t take a political expert to see what’s going on in America and with the global economy. There’s enough stress and negativity floating around, so I’m not going to get too deep into the problems we have. But the problems with the economy worry me and many others, more specifically, experts, and I think that it’s imperative to create a disaster storage. Hazard preparedness has been a tradition practiced by many generations who have experienced depressions and similar events that cripple delivery or availability of necessities. If there’s one message that has been passed down and down since the great depression, it is be prepared. And this isn’t a message asking you to always be worried or stressed, but in-fact, the opposite. Imagine how comfortable it is to know that you have enough food and water and supplies to ensure the safety of yourself, your family, and hopefully, some spare in-case friends or neighbors are in need. There’s no sense in just hoping that everything gets better. I want everything to get better and I believe I do my part in assisting in that process, but I also understand that I have a responsibility to be prepared.  I personally believe everyone should have [...]

What is Adrenal Failure or Adrenal Fatigue?

What is adrenal failure or adrenal fatigue? First, we must dive into hormones. Your hormones, Adrenal gland, and Fatigue are important and interrelated. Why/How? Because fatigue is the most complained about symptom in doctor’s offices in America. And hormones and the adrenal gland are related. Some background information on what is adrenal failure? Your adrenal glands weigh less than a grape, are a little bigger than a walnut, are pyramid-shaped and lay rest on top of your kidneys. Yet, they control the massive piece of machinery you call your body. The adrenal gland’s primary function includes releasing hormones such as cortisol (stress hormone), adrenaline, noradrenaline, and sex hormones. These hormones control your body. The adrenals are responsible for whether you feel energized or fatigued, among other things. What causes problems with the adrenals and hormones? Primarily stress, of course meaning the excess of stress. Stress is categorized as electromagnetic (laptops, phones, ect..), dietary (excess dieting/excess sugar/refined foods, crappy water), physical (constant injuries, over-exercising), chemical (toxins in the water, food, air) , emotional (bad relationship, ect…) and the list goes on. The constant release of adrenaline/noradrenaline/cortisol tires the adrenals out and results in the fatigue so many people complain about. There’s even the [...]

What is Leptin Hormone and How is Diet involved?

What is leptin hormone? This is a question that is asked over and over as the health and fitness world becomes more familiar with the hormone, leptin. Well, in the human body, when you excessively limit calories (Read: diet) your body responds by lowering the hormone leptin, which lowers metabolism, energy production and a couple other things that may or may not make you feel crappy. Thyroid hormone, growth hormone, testosterone… it all drops. It all drops because of this one master hormone related to your diet: leptin. As you probably know, this is definitely not what we want. Because what I’m saying above means that you’re practically restricting yourself from your high calorie favorite foods, all in the hopes to burn some fat off, but instead, you’re lowering your metabolism and your desire to workout. The good thing? There’s a way that you can incorporate your favorite high calorie foods into your diet and raise leptin. And as I already mentioned, if we get leptin levels high, we can keep the fat burning in high gear. A Quick Review on the answer to what is leptin hormone: When we lower leptin through excessive dieting: Growth hormone dips Thyroid Hormone dips [...]

Laughter and Health

I just recently walked into my home after a night full of laughter, wondering what I am going to write about today. There are plenty of issues to write about, many of them interesting and having to do with a mix of politics and health. But, today, I am wondering what there is to write about that would benefit everyone who is reading. What is something that could benefit anyone reading at that very moment? And then it came to me, laughter and health.  [Has language, may be not safe for work] Laughter.Laughter truly is revitalizing. Laughter overcomes nearly every single feeling in the human body, which is a rare occurrence. If you’re scared, if you’re tired, if you’re angry, if you’re sad, and something is funny enough, laughter fixes it. It puts a smile on your face when the situation you’re in will not, and even if it’s just for one second, it allows you to forget any and all troubles and just experience joy. But let’s not stop there. Because the topic of laughter and health most definitely does not. Why Laughter is so great… Can improve immune system function, so you fight colds and viruses off Can improve blood [...]

Rawesome Foods Raid: Safety or Tyranny?

On August 3rd, 2011, Rawesome Foods in Venice, California, an organic health food store, was raided by the FDA and federal agents for conspiracy to sell raw milk and raw milk sales. Although the raw milk program was a private club, legal in California, the federal agents stated that their reasoning was because of suspicion around malicious raw milk sales. That day and to this day, there have been protests and online lashback for what seems to be a misguided raid at an honest business attempting to make money in the current economy. The FDA and other organizations who authorized and organized this raid have spent citizen tax dollars to raid a legal business establishment and arrest citizens for legal acts. In my own opinion, the public outcry for a solution to this unconstitutional and unlawful raid is completely justified. To add to the economic turmoil that exists in every business, legal raw milk vendors are also to worry about unjustified random raids by Federal agents? The economy is already strained enough to be dealing with these kinds of regulations that seem to be without any actual benefit to the public or the public businesses. And to add to the [...]
