Quick Workouts to Lose Weight?

To use quick workouts to lose weight, or not to use them, that is the question! Over the past two months, I’ve come to a conclusion. It’s a conclusion that many trainers and health bloggers will never come to because they think they aren’t allowed to. What is this conclusion? Having no time for exercise is a valid excuse. At-least in the short-term. Over the past couple of months I’ve experienced a new definition of busy, and I now completely sympathize with non-exercisers who choose to be so because of time. I understand that mentally working, studying, or both, all day long, can leave you completely drained by the end of the day. And when you’re brain is drained out, motivation for exercise plummets. Because of my lack of time over the past couple months, I haven’t been exercising as much as I like to. I usually like to get 3 solid full body workouts in a week. The past couple of months has lead me to do 1-2 workouts a week, while also being lower in intensity and time. Even quick workouts were difficult to get in. But, the past couple of months has also lead me towards coping [...]

Lunchroom Politics, Chicago School Bans Homemade Lunches

Source: Click Here for the Chicago Tribune Article. Today’s post will be on the politics of health. Specifically, school lunch politics. One of the toughest times to form an opinion is when your beliefs in different areas of life cross paths. For instance, I believe health is one of our greatest assets, and I think that improving your health is one of the fastest ways to improve every other area of life. I also believe that people should make the decision to become healthy for themselves. I don’t believe in forced health. It’s part of my political beliefs that people should be able to do as they choose as long as they don’t infringe on other’s rights. Recent news that a Chicago school-Little Village Academy-banned homemade lunches had me putting my political beliefs over my health beliefs. This Chicago school and its principal decided that because kids were bringing such unhealthy foods to lunch, the proper solution was to ban all homemade lunches. The school makes exceptions for allergies (how nice). Let’s just point out a few problems: Public Vs. Private School: This ban might be acceptable in a private school where the school reserves the right to do something [...]

The 4 Hour Body Review

A couple months ago Tim Ferris, writer of the four hour work week, released his new book, the four hour body. Today’s post will be the 4 hour body review, and I’ll give an example of tips that can be found throughout the book. Just FYI, Tim Ferris’s 4 Hour Work Week also has some great tips, but more related to productivity and time-saving. As a little introduction to the book before the review of the  4 Hour body, the official trailer(interesting marketing technique, trailer for a book!): 4 Hour Body Review: Let me tell you, it’s a thick book. It’s really big. And although I don’t agree with everything that’s said, it has some damn good tips. And you can tell there was a lot of research and work that went into it. Below is just an example of the tips you can find throughout the book. This is me letting you write your own review. If you find what’s below interesting, then it’s worth the read. If not (doubtful), then move on. This is a 60-90 second tip with you (from the book) that you can implement immediately, for free, and increase the chances that what you eat [...]
